Christmas Cards

Recently, homeowners have started to decorate their homes more and more. Until about 1970, the only decoration inside the family home was a Christmas tree, some garland, mistletoe in the entryway. Since Christmas lights are really becoming inexpensive, home are being decorated with lights and tinsel. Many of the homes in English cities are Attached-Housing where two or more homes are attached to each other with an alleyway in between. This gives neighbors the ability to chip in on decorations. A block of homes often has a theme involved and the displays are massive and quite creative.
Christmas cards are very important in England. They are a way to keep up with friends and family that you don’t get to see all the time and it is a way to send best wishes to those who you do keep up with on a fairly consistent basis. Christmas cards are displayed as decorations in the English home. By either displaying the card on a mantle or shelf or by hanging them on the wall closest to the Christmas tree with sticky tape the cards can be enjoyed for the whole of Christmas. Since cards are displayed, many families will make their own cards. Cut out in special shapes or decorated with glitter and pictures, the more ornate the card, the more attention it will attract.
