Mulling The Wassail

Mulling The Wassail
Mulling the Wassail – This is a tradition that goes way back into my childhood…and we now continue in our home. My husband Herb is the Wassail maker extraordinaire! He has borrowed the Scottish tradition of “mulling” the Wassail Bowl. We have our first Wassail on Christmas Eve, surrounded by friends. He takes his own branding iron, red hot from the log fire…and plunges it into the Wassail, to heat and set the spices, and to toast good health, good food and good friends on Christmas Eve, prior to the midnight Carol and Eucharist service at our church.
A recipe for Wassail can be found in the Recipe appendix.
